Full 20-car grid revealed for FIA inaugural Motorsport Games F4 Cup

A 20-car grid has been revealed ahead of this weekend’s inaugural FIA Motorsport Games Formula 4 Cup at Vallelunga in Italy.

The FIA Motorsport Games is a new multi-disciplinary contest set to take place at Rome’s Vallelunga Circuit on 1-3 November and features five other disciplines: GT Cup, Touring Car Cup, Karting Slalom Cup, Drifting Cup and Digital Cup.

Drivers from across the globe will take to the 4.085 km circuit to battle it out for gold, silver and bronze medals, which will be awarded to the top-three finishers in each event. An overall medal table, similar to that in the Olympics, will be utilised, with the top National Sporting Authority (ASN) awarding the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games trophy during the closing ceremony.

A KCMG-designed, Hitech GP-run hybrid chassis will be used throughout the F4 Cup, and will also be the first F4 car to feature a Halo safety device, which is currently in use in Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3 and which was not due until the next generation of F4 cars in 2021.

The category will utilise an “arrive and drive” format and all cars will be operated by Hitech GP with identical set-ups and limited tyres, and with data being shared between all drivers and engineers.

The weekend will get underway with two free practice sessions on Friday, followed by qualifying and a qualifying race on Saturday to set the grid for the main race on Sunday.
